“Now, there,” boomed Gussie, continuing to point, “is an instance of what I mean. Gussie is scared of making public speeches and Wooster’s idea of making him have a few drinks actually backfires. It is Gussie in his spurt of addressing the Market Snodsbury Grammer School. I really like the mauve shade and the picture depicted on the cover is one of the most hilarious scenes from the book. The only person capable of turning the tables around is none other than Jeeves, Wooster’s valet. Wooster then gets Aunt Dahlia’s prized chef Anatole to resign and Gussie to drink too much and make a mockery of him at delivering a speech at a public event.

What happens in turn is that Gussie gets engaged to Angela instead of Madeline Bassett, also annoying Angela’s ex-fiancé Tuppy. The entire narrative is about the goof-ups made by Wooster as he takes Gussie’s case to his hands, to prove his might over Jeeves. Wooster is annoyed by the fact that his friends turn to Jeeves for a Counsellor rather than him. Gussie is a shy teetotaler who is more passionate for newts and cannot gather the courage to propose Madeline Bassett. Jeeves had been advising Gussie, an old school friend on his romantic inclination towards Madeline Bassett. ‘The Plot’ before I delve into Book Covers – Bertie Wooster has just returned from Cannes to London after spending several weeks in the company of his Aunt Dahlia and her daughter Angela.

‘Right Ho, Jeeves’ is the second full-length novel after ‘Thank You, Jeeves’ with the hilarious duo of ‘Bertie Wooster and Jeeves’ that was published in 1934. And, I must say I missed out on this marvelous setting of romantic comedy. I am a late entrant to Wodehouse’s world of ‘Wooster and Jeeves’.
